Giorgi Baramidze

Deputy Chairperson of the Parliament of GeorgiaBaramidze

Mr. Giorgi Baramidze is the Deputy Chairperson of the Parliament of Georgia.
In 1992-2003 and from 2012 Mr. Baramidze has been an MP, holding various leading positions, such as the Chairman of the Special Investigation and Anti-Corruption Commission, the Chairman of the parliamentary faction of the Citizen’s Union of Georgia, the Chairman of Defense and Security Committee, the Chairman of the Faction of United Democrats, the Chairman of Georgian Parliamentary Delegation to NATO Parliamentary Assembly. In 1995-1999 Mr. Baramidze has been a member of Georgian Parliamentary Delegation to Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly.

In 2003-2012 Mr. Baramidze hold various ministerial positions in the executive power. In 2005-2012 Mr. Baramidze been the State Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, Vice Prime Minister. In June-December, 2004 he has been the Minister of Defense of Georgia. In 2003-2004 he has been the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia.
In 1991-1992 Mr. Baramidze has been the Acting Secretary General of Georgian Green Party.
In 1992 Mr. Baramidze graduated from the Department of Chemical Technology at the Technical University of Georgia, in 1995 Mr. Baramidze attended courses at the George C. Marshall Center for European Security Studies and Defense Economics in Garmisch, Germany, in 1998-1999 Mr. Baramidze has been an Associate Researcher at the Institute for the Study of Diplomacy of Georgetown University.
