Pilgrimage to Akhtala, Haghpat, Sanahin, Odzun

On May 4, 2014 the “Hayartun” Cultural, Educational and Youth Center organized a pilgrimage to the Armenian medieval monasteries in the Lori region of the Republic of Armenia. Armenian, Georgian, Russian, Ukrainian, and Kazakh pilgrims, from 6 to 70 years old, in total 130 people participated in the pilgrimage.

The clergy of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia Priest Narek Ghushchyan, Deacon Gevorg Antonyan, and coordinators of different departments of the Diocese Levon Isakhanyan, Valery Badalyan, Isayi Abovyan, Innesa Sarukhanyan and Gevorg Poghosov accompanied the pilgrims.

The pilgrimage, together with spiritual nourishment, aimed to familiarize pilgrims with the Armenian cultural and religious heritage. It should be mentioned that Monasteries of Haghpat and Sanahin make part of the world cultural heritage and are under the UNESCO protection.
